CURATED-'C'-only-LOGO-Sml-72dpiCURATED supports + celebrates the artists & artisans, producers & provedores we meet on our travels as well as design, style & fashion that inspires us from around the world – each with a nod to the love of COUNTRY life + STYLE. From locals we know, to creatives in faraway places, CURATED brings you the essence of grounded, soulful, country luxury & living.

A few weeks ahead of the 2014 annual Australian Sheep & Wool Show and Women of Wool luncheon, today’s edition of CURATED indulges in the natural wonder of wool and its timeless ability to make our winters not only bearable but beautiful. It is also a tribute to all the dedicated wool industry folk from farmers, shearers and traders to artisans, crafters + shearing shed cooks. A big thank you to Abigail Place for motivating us all to support Australia’s home-spun industry:

“In an era when much of our clothing is imported and disposable, it is a joyous discovery to find that truly artisanal crafts using our most iconic natural fibre are not only alive and well, but growing. Each year, the Australian Sheep & Wool Show brings together a fabulous showcase of the best in Australia when it comes to quality, design and creativity … The Australian Sheep & Wool Show keeps the standards extremely high through woolcraft competitions and actively encourages the public to explore and learn these skills. Hundreds flock to these demonstrations, where they can try their hand from simple crochet to hand knitting, felting, spinning and weaving, with questions answered by experts in the field. Even the next generation gets involved with a kids’ corner, where they get to produce their own wool work of art.”

Abigail helps promote and celebrate the contribution made by women to the world of wool with the annual Women of Wool lunch. This year’s lunch will be held on Friday 18 July and all who attend get to “laugh their scarves off” with comedian entertainment provided by Lawrence Mooney.
